CONGRATULATIONS CUZ SUSAN

Congratulations on your new job. I know it has been a long search but I think The Lord has answered your prayers and led you to where you should be. It is great that your friend will be working there with you. Pretty amazing. I wish you both the best and may it be exactly what you're looking for. I have no doubt that you will adjust very quickly to full time work. It didn't take me long. When I received my first full time paycheck, I was adjusted and all was good. Lol. Love you and so happy for you.

ALL ALONE IN JACKSONVILLE

Well, Debbie left town last night and spent the night in Tallahassee. She left this morning with Little Mackenzie and continued on to Pensacola. Beth went out to Pensacola last night. They are all there for Raelynn's 1st birthday. Wish I could be there but just starting my new hours, I wasn't able to get the time off. Debbie sent me pictures and video's. We also did facetime so I could watch the cake and Ice cream live. I think our dogs are enjoying Debbie's side of the bed while she is gone. they aren't used to being able to stretch out. I will be patiently waiting for her return tuesday evening. It is late so will make this short. My love to all the family.

WORKING HOURS

Sorry I haven't written in awhile, but these new hours are hard to get used to as far as my blog goes. I get home at 10pm and visit with Debbie and then off to bed around 11pm. I will have to start trying to blog in the morning before I go to work, so my blogs may be about things that happened the day before, providing I can remember them that long. There really hasn't been anything going on since I started my new hours. I am enjoying the full time job.
We had a wonderful weekend with our daughter, son-in-law and grandbabies. As usual Debbie and I enjoyed our time with them all. The grandbabies are growing so quickly. We blink and they have grown 2 inches. They came Thursday and left today about 2pm. they arrived home safely around 9:30pm. I always feel much better when I know their travels are finished and uneventful.
I don't know what's going on but it looks like Roberta and I will be the only ones contributing to the family blog. I hope that is not the case but I haven't seen any of the Carvers on in quite some time. I hope all is well with everyone. Anyway, it is 11pm and need to get to bed. I just want everyone in the family to know I love them very much. Until later.

WORKING ON FAMILY

I have been working the last couple days on trying to get Theresa on here to read our family blogs and considering possibly starting one of her own so she can put in her two cents worth. She has been busy, but I think once she gets on and sees what we are trying to do here, she will be anxious to join us. She has so much she could add as far as her growing up in our home with 2 sisters. Also with little Mackenzie, there is always something going on. I will try to work on Beth next but don't know if that will work as she basically only has a smartphone and that can be a bugger to type on. Will see what I can do. I am also going to try and get Lois on here but that could be difficult as she works so many hours. She doesn't have much time to do anything. Well that is my latest, and I am still waiting Pam. You don't need to find your old blog. That is not a good excuse. It is to easy to start another one. Ask Susan. (hint hint) and CHARLES, get that blog started before your old Uncle has to come to Iowa and put a serious whopping on you. Also to Charles and Pam. Stop the neener neener neeners and get on here and talk to each other. lol

My love and hugs to you all

LAST DAY ON WEEKENDS

Today is the last day I will be having to work weekends. It will be so great to start my new post working Monday through Friday. Weekends off to spend with the love of my life. It has been so long since we have really been able to do anything or go anywhere together. I am so looking forward to having this time with my lawnmower. Just kidding Sweetie. We all know I am talking about my wife, best friend in the whole world, who can get so mad at me and still tell me she loves me when we go to bed at night. Thank you for that sweetie. I know I try your patience quite a bit, but isn't that a husbands job. That is what all my buddies told me. All joking aside, I am so looking forward to our time together.  We too can be like Roberta and Bill and do nothing whenever we want. Oh, we have already been doing that. Hope everyone had a great weekend and getting ready for another grinding week. Well everyone except the 2 senior citizens. My love to all.

COMPUTER HACK OR NOT

What a day. I was told yesterday, while getting technical help on a new router, that my computer had been hacked and someone was taking control of my system. They said they would fix it for 300 bucks. Well I just didn't use any online banking and turned wifi off on the iphone. I went to the Apple store today and they did a deep clean on my computer. erased everything and reinstalled to factory specs. Everything was gone so have been adding everything back on this evening. Thank goodness this blog is kept on blogspot and not my computer. I thought I had lost this for good. Most all my pictures were already backed up on a thumb drive so I think i came out of this ok. the computer is faster. Just like new. I haven't seen any of you on in a couple days so just like nothing ever happened. So I don't know if my computer was really hacked or if someone was just trying to get 300 bucks out of me but anyway, I feel better and more secure now. Until later. Hoping everyone had a great Thursday.

RICHARDSON'S CLAN CHOWDER

Had a talk with Becky last night and told her what we were doing with the family blog and asked her to join us and she did and went crazy last night. I hope you all will enjoy what she has to share and bring to our family blog. She is very honest and says what's on her mind and that is why I respect her so much. I may not like some of the things she says but I always respect them because they are from the heart. I think she will be able to add so much as far as her and her siblings childhood. So what I'm asking is, if you are not already following Richardson's Clan Chowder, please follow and welcome my baby girl to the family blog. My love to all and good night.

TUESDAY 8/14/2012 NOTHING LEFT TO SAY

That is the name of this blog because it has been a pretty uneventful day. Got up and now getting ready for bed. Well I did go pick Debbie up at work and walked down to Mama Mia's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria. We try to do that once a week. Wait, I did also write a darn novel in response to everyone's response to Roberta's blog.  I wish I had something to report but I left it all out there on Roberta's blog so  go read her blog and see how I really feel.  My love to all.

PINTEREST

I was bored yesterday at work and got a wild notion to check out this thing I had been hearing everyone talk about (Pinterest). I wanted to know what all the buzz was about. I heard Debbie and Beth  and Becky talking about recipes and sewing subjects and I thought, yuk. Well when I decided to finally see what it was all about, WOW, there where things like animals, sports, cars and all kinds of things I like.
So much for thinking it was just for women. I am now an official member of pinterest so follow me. I know you may not be into some of my boards, but who can not love adorable animal pictures.  On to the next subject. I have officially been cleared to return to full work status. My knee is about 90 to 95%. It is just going to take time for the bruising to heal. Also, My boss called me yesterday while I was at work and offered me a position on 2nd shift Monday thru Friday, no WEEKENDS. Yea. Of course I accepted so I can have weekends off with the love of my life. The hours are not really bad at all. I will be working 1:30pm to 9:30pm. I am excited about this opportunity. I have worked this shift at this location and know the people real well, so it will be an easy transition. I start on Monday the 27th. To all my followers, I hope you have a wonderful Monday.

MORE VACATION MEMORIES

One of my favorite memories was that all our cousins from the Daly side of the family would go to Missouri at the same time as Grandma Daly had a huge 2 story house built in the early 1800's. It was originally the house of a plantation owner with servant quarters upstairs. The upstairs also had a kitchen, bathroom and 2 huge bedrooms. Every room in the house was big. Seeing Grandma took care of so many children, she had beds in every room but the kitchen and bathrooms. Even her closed in front porch that 3 single beds against the wall. Nobody had to get a hotel. We all gathered in grandma's house. I loved sleeping out on the front porch with Kenny and David. I remember all the great meals and deserts that were prepared in that big kitchen. There was a grade school next door and us kids would go play on the playground while the adults would sit in the kitchen or on the back patio drinking coffee in the morning and switching to beer around noon. Roberta will remember the little corner drug store where grandma would give us a quarter each and we would walk down to the drug store and each get a bag of candy. Can't believe our teeth didn't rot out of our heads. Oh, the memories of going to Uncle Nolan's and Aunt betty's farm. The 5 acre lake and also the strip pits (water so clear and so deep you could never find the bottom). Us kids would go and play in the barn. So much to climb on and up to the hay loft. They always had feather beds and pillows. My cousin Chuck and I would sleep in this feather bed and you would sink so far in it you had to raise your head to see the other. And one last memory for my sis to remember, but how about walking up to business loop 70 to the Ice Cream store. It was like Dairy Queen but don't think that was the name. Now that I think of it, it might have been tastee freeze. They had the best shakes and malts I can ever remember. I loved the Chocolate malts. Very hard to find these days. Well that is enough for today. Looking back makes me happy and sad at the same time. The people I miss that are no longer here, just the youth in general but it is good that I only really remember the good times in my life. I know there were bad times but I believe our minds are designed to purposely block those memories so that we can carry on with life. Looking back is great but I have to remember how blessed I am with my life as an adult. Now it is living my life through my kids and grandkids. Life is good.

Random Blabber

Well it has been a week since my last post so thought I better get on the ball again. My leg is almost back to normal. i have my MRI tomorrow afternoon and that will determine the overall outcome. I think i will be able to go back to full duty in 1 to 2 weeks. Remember me mentioning the a/c outage. well a wire rubbed against the freon line and rubbed a hole in it. the repair was cheap and labor was reasonable but the price of freon has tripled due to the great organization EPA. We are the only country in the world that has a limit on our freon usage. It has been 99 million pounds which is more than enough, so the EPA lowered it to 50 million pounds and walla, the price of freon tripled. So my final cost for that little problem was 525.00, most being the cost of freon as I lost all of mine. It was worth it though to get the a/c back.
On another note, Debbie and I are heading to Tallahassee Friday after work to celebrate  our grand daughter McKenzie's 4th birthday. She is going to have a good birthday. shhh but don't tell her. It's a secret. I am looking forward to getting away for a couple days. Well this is enough rambling for now. Hope you all have a great day.

IF IT ISN'T ONE THING, IT'S ANOTHER

Well, got home today to find my a/c has gone out. 85 miserable degrees in the house. Bum leg and I have to get out with the wet/dry vac and try to clean out the drain tube. Cleaned the filter but still nothing. Seems like the compressor is kicking in so I hope it is just the start capacitor. that would be relatively cheap. I hope it is not the compressor itself. yikes. Our A/C man will be here after 1 pm tomorrow. I hope the news isn't devastating. It is all I can do to stay awake in this heat. I just want to sleep through it all until the a/c man arrives, but I have to do some running around in the morning. At least I can look forward to the ac in the truck. lol I feel for my dogs though. I just hope we all survive this ordeal. Talk again tomorrow.

ANOTHER UPDATE

Here is the latest. I went to the worker's comp doctor today and they are scheduling an MRI. I should have an appointment  within the next couple days. This doctor thinks what the ER Doctor saw in the X-Rays was from a condition I have had all my life (Osgood Slaughters Disease) a slivering of the bone. I have been allowed to work limited duty with at least 90% sitting. So my company is putting me to work in the Office starting tomorrow. This is great as I will not be without income for 4 or 5 weeks like I originally thought. My estimated return to full duty is 7/30 depending on the results of the MRI. So things are getting better and what a difference 24 hours makes. I woke up this morning and my leg felt 100% better. I don't know if it really was or if it was partly a result of good pain killers. Anyway, things are looking up. I have a follow-up appointment with the worker's comp doctor on Wednesday. I guess it is all part of the game. Until later.

THE CLUTZY MOMENT UPDATE I PROMISED

Well here is the update I promised. I got off at 9:30 pm and got to the emergency room at around 10:30 pm. 6.5 hours later I am released with crutches and a brace from my upper thigh down to about my ankle. I broke a bone in my knee joint just below the knee cap. I have to go to my company tomorrow to get with workmans  comp. They want me to have an MRI done to see if there is any damage to the ACL. I am going to cut this short as i can't keep my eyes open. This pain medicine is some good stuff. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Oh yes, I finally got driven home by my company at around 6:15 am. Debbie and I got up at 11am so we could go pick up my car and also get my computer out of it. What a weekend. lol

A CLUTZY MOMENT

Just when I thought it was another routine boring day at work everything changed for the worst. I was making my first rounds of the day at a different post. I am working on the other side of town this weekend. Well anyway, like I said, I was making my rounds and I tripped over a slight ramp. Just enough rise to catch my toes and then the inevitable happened. The big fat old man was on a collision course with the immovable concrete. This was not going to be a pretty sight. My left knee cushioned the blow and turned into mush. Swelling and fluid buildup, well I assume that is what that mushy knot is on the left side of my knee. Keeping it elevated and on ice. When I get off, I will be driven to Baptist hospital to have it checked and then when I am done, I have to call my company back so they can take me back to my car. I just wanted to go to the naval hospital but NOOO. This is a workmans comp thing. I get off in an hour. I will update this when I find out weather there is damage or if I am just a big woose like Debbie says I am.

BLOGSPOT

I am sitting here at work with no Internet connection and all bummed out. I am thinking to myself, what will I do with it being as slow as it always is on the weekend. All of a sudden my brain started one of its rare moments of working and I realized,(I have a smartphone so I do have Internet. YEA. I getting so addicted to this family blog. I love my computer and spend all the time I can on it. During the Course of our daily lives, we get so busy and at the end of the day, it is to late to call family. This family blog makes me feel so close to everyone. We are communicating much more and almost on a daily basis. I totally agree with Pam, that family is family regardless of location, distance or lifestyles. I love you all. So with my smart phone by my side, I will always be able to reach out and touch someone. I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Saturday.

CHILDHOOD MEMORIES II

My Sis wants more memories. Well we could start back around 1953 or 54. I was to young to remember, but I still have headaches from you breaking a purex bottle over my head. Wow, detergent and bleach actually came in glass bottles. I don't hold that against you even though it probably lowered my IQ by 20, 30 points. We could go to 59 or 60 when we lived in Delmar Trailer Park and we would play hide and seek. Mom would always help me find neat places to hide. How many places could there be in an 8x42 trailer, but Mom found great places like putting me in the oven or putting me in the overhead cabinets. I remember that so well. Oh and yes, who could forget our dog Spot and the time a Boxer jumped over our fence and attacked Spot who was leashed inside our fenced yard. We also had a Persian Cat at the same time named Sweetie. Mom worked at People's Drug Store. We used to walk there when she was working and would get something to Drink at the fountain. Drug store's had fountains. I know some of you remember that. We would get lime or orange sherbet. Yes sherbet was very popular then. I will stop for now. I am using all my memories in this one blog.  How many years can I talk about. I can't remember when I was to young and you got married when I was eleven for cryin out loud.  I love you big sis. I hope and pray I can get Lois to join in on this family site but I have my doubts. You both have one thing in common. You are both Stubborn. You will both deny it because you are to stubborn to admit it. I love you both. Until later.

A SPECIAL THANKS

I wish to take this time to send a special thanks to my very special Cousin Susan. She had the patience to stay on the phone with me, giving me personal instruction about my computer and this blog. She didn't once raise her voice at me. hehe  I learned a lot during that 3 hours. I feel that I now have just enough knowledge of my computer to be dangerous. Very very dangerous. Seriously though, thank you Susan for all your time and assistance. Love ya Cuz.

FAMILY DAY AT THE DOCTORS

Today was the day of the family trip to the doctors office. Debbie and i both had appointments to have bone density test done. Debbie also had the pleasure of going through that yearly thing called a mammogram. Things went well and relatively quickly at the doctors. We came home and took a nice nap. The dog's didn't know what to think because naps are usually reserved for just them and me. They couldn't understand what she was doing there. Of course we all adjusted and got through it just fine. Debbie cooked a Pork Roast in the slow cooker and we had corn on the cobb and garlic mashed potato's for dinner with a delicious gravy for the roast and potato's. It was a fantastic ending to a not so fantastic day. All in All on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 6. Tomorrow will be better as Debbie and I have absolutely nothing to do but kick back and relax. Well it is off to bed for me. Good night all.

CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

I was just sitting here thinking and a few childhood memories popped up in my head. I Think my sister Roberta will remember these. The first was very fond memories of going to the beach in Dam Neck, VA. Playing in the sand, well Roberta playing and me trying to dig myself out from where she buried me. Also on this beach, I remember little snack shacks. I believe this beach might have been on a naval base but not sure. A song pops up in my head every time I think of the beach at Dam Neck and that song is "The wayward wind" by Gogi Grant. It must have been popular during the time we were going to this beach. The second thought I had was of my Mom, Roberta and myself sitting in our Detroiter Mobile Home, riding out Hurricane Donna in 1959 or 1960. I remember the trailer right beside us being turned over on its side. The row of phone booths across the street from our trailer as very few people had phones back then. The phone I remember being very generous and giving back all the money people would feed them making long distance calls. Roberta and I would put the money in a glass jar and buried it behind the trailer next to the tree that had to be cut down after the hurricane as it was leaning and almost fell on our trailer. Then Roberta and I going to the playground to slide on the slide.
At that age, this slide seemed 15 to 20 feet high. poles anchoring the slide in cement. We used to slide down these poles. I also remember falling off the top of this slide on my head. I couldn't breath for what seemed like 10 minutes. Roberta to this day says that is what is wrong with me and I tell her she pushed me. Lastly I remember going to the Drive-Inn Theater. Dad would pack a cooler with drinks and hide it in the trunk and Mom would pop  popcorn the old fashion way (pan and oil) sliding the pan back and forth over the stove. She would do this many times until she had filled up a whole paper bag. She would put on the salt and then add melted butter. The snack bar was to expensive. I guess this is more for Roberta and I and the rest of you might find it boring, but it was such a good and carefree time in the lives of two children in a Military family. P.S. Can't leave out Roberta's first crush "Larry Thurston Henry" Now that's a blast from the past. I hope this has brought back some good memories for you to sis. Love you.

TO BLOG OR NOT TO BLOG

That is the question. Here I am trying to figure out this new system and the harder I try the more confused I get. I don't know  heads from tails. I think it would be easier to just talk on FB or by email. I can't figure out how to follow anyone. Now it says something like subscribe and when you click on that it says add URL. So confusing. I am lost when it comes to URL's and links. Don't quite understand them. If anyone out there can explain these things to me, I would appreciate the help.

BACK FROM LENGTHY TIME OFF

Wow, it has been a long time since I have been on my blog.  We get so caught up in our everyday lives and just too busy to do anything, so it seems. I have no excuses really, just got tired and running out of things to say. I can't believe I just said that. Well anyway, I am at work, on my computer and run across this blog and say to myself out of sight out of mind. I am determined to get this thing started again and my goal is to get as many family and friends on here as possible. Life is to short (and in my case) getting shorter everyday. I called my eldest sister Bobbi (Roberta as I call her) to talk to her about her blog, and guess what. She doesn't remember starting a blog. That got us talking, and in our conversation, we realized that many of our family we will probably never see again in our lifetime. So this is going to be the start of my attempt to get as many family members on this blog as possible. It wouldn't take but a few minutes each day to keep the family updated. Even if it was just a quick "I survived another day" or something of that nature. I love to type and have been doing it for 43 years now.  It clears my mind and soothes my soul. I hope I can get my family interested in this. It is more personal than facebook. I will begin contacting everyone I can by email to see if I can spark some interest in this. Until later, I wish all my family and friends a beautiful Sunday evening.campndude@gmail.com
