TUESDAY 8/14/2012 NOTHING LEFT TO SAY

That is the name of this blog because it has been a pretty uneventful day. Got up and now getting ready for bed. Well I did go pick Debbie up at work and walked down to Mama Mia's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria. We try to do that once a week. Wait, I did also write a darn novel in response to everyone's response to Roberta's blog.  I wish I had something to report but I left it all out there on Roberta's blog so  go read her blog and see how I really feel.  My love to all.

PINTEREST

I was bored yesterday at work and got a wild notion to check out this thing I had been hearing everyone talk about (Pinterest). I wanted to know what all the buzz was about. I heard Debbie and Beth  and Becky talking about recipes and sewing subjects and I thought, yuk. Well when I decided to finally see what it was all about, WOW, there where things like animals, sports, cars and all kinds of things I like.
So much for thinking it was just for women. I am now an official member of pinterest so follow me. I know you may not be into some of my boards, but who can not love adorable animal pictures.  On to the next subject. I have officially been cleared to return to full work status. My knee is about 90 to 95%. It is just going to take time for the bruising to heal. Also, My boss called me yesterday while I was at work and offered me a position on 2nd shift Monday thru Friday, no WEEKENDS. Yea. Of course I accepted so I can have weekends off with the love of my life. The hours are not really bad at all. I will be working 1:30pm to 9:30pm. I am excited about this opportunity. I have worked this shift at this location and know the people real well, so it will be an easy transition. I start on Monday the 27th. To all my followers, I hope you have a wonderful Monday.

MORE VACATION MEMORIES

One of my favorite memories was that all our cousins from the Daly side of the family would go to Missouri at the same time as Grandma Daly had a huge 2 story house built in the early 1800's. It was originally the house of a plantation owner with servant quarters upstairs. The upstairs also had a kitchen, bathroom and 2 huge bedrooms. Every room in the house was big. Seeing Grandma took care of so many children, she had beds in every room but the kitchen and bathrooms. Even her closed in front porch that 3 single beds against the wall. Nobody had to get a hotel. We all gathered in grandma's house. I loved sleeping out on the front porch with Kenny and David. I remember all the great meals and deserts that were prepared in that big kitchen. There was a grade school next door and us kids would go play on the playground while the adults would sit in the kitchen or on the back patio drinking coffee in the morning and switching to beer around noon. Roberta will remember the little corner drug store where grandma would give us a quarter each and we would walk down to the drug store and each get a bag of candy. Can't believe our teeth didn't rot out of our heads. Oh, the memories of going to Uncle Nolan's and Aunt betty's farm. The 5 acre lake and also the strip pits (water so clear and so deep you could never find the bottom). Us kids would go and play in the barn. So much to climb on and up to the hay loft. They always had feather beds and pillows. My cousin Chuck and I would sleep in this feather bed and you would sink so far in it you had to raise your head to see the other. And one last memory for my sis to remember, but how about walking up to business loop 70 to the Ice Cream store. It was like Dairy Queen but don't think that was the name. Now that I think of it, it might have been tastee freeze. They had the best shakes and malts I can ever remember. I loved the Chocolate malts. Very hard to find these days. Well that is enough for today. Looking back makes me happy and sad at the same time. The people I miss that are no longer here, just the youth in general but it is good that I only really remember the good times in my life. I know there were bad times but I believe our minds are designed to purposely block those memories so that we can carry on with life. Looking back is great but I have to remember how blessed I am with my life as an adult. Now it is living my life through my kids and grandkids. Life is good.

Random Blabber

Well it has been a week since my last post so thought I better get on the ball again. My leg is almost back to normal. i have my MRI tomorrow afternoon and that will determine the overall outcome. I think i will be able to go back to full duty in 1 to 2 weeks. Remember me mentioning the a/c outage. well a wire rubbed against the freon line and rubbed a hole in it. the repair was cheap and labor was reasonable but the price of freon has tripled due to the great organization EPA. We are the only country in the world that has a limit on our freon usage. It has been 99 million pounds which is more than enough, so the EPA lowered it to 50 million pounds and walla, the price of freon tripled. So my final cost for that little problem was 525.00, most being the cost of freon as I lost all of mine. It was worth it though to get the a/c back.
On another note, Debbie and I are heading to Tallahassee Friday after work to celebrate  our grand daughter McKenzie's 4th birthday. She is going to have a good birthday. shhh but don't tell her. It's a secret. I am looking forward to getting away for a couple days. Well this is enough rambling for now. Hope you all have a great day.

IF IT ISN'T ONE THING, IT'S ANOTHER

Well, got home today to find my a/c has gone out. 85 miserable degrees in the house. Bum leg and I have to get out with the wet/dry vac and try to clean out the drain tube. Cleaned the filter but still nothing. Seems like the compressor is kicking in so I hope it is just the start capacitor. that would be relatively cheap. I hope it is not the compressor itself. yikes. Our A/C man will be here after 1 pm tomorrow. I hope the news isn't devastating. It is all I can do to stay awake in this heat. I just want to sleep through it all until the a/c man arrives, but I have to do some running around in the morning. At least I can look forward to the ac in the truck. lol I feel for my dogs though. I just hope we all survive this ordeal. Talk again tomorrow.

ANOTHER UPDATE

Here is the latest. I went to the worker's comp doctor today and they are scheduling an MRI. I should have an appointment  within the next couple days. This doctor thinks what the ER Doctor saw in the X-Rays was from a condition I have had all my life (Osgood Slaughters Disease) a slivering of the bone. I have been allowed to work limited duty with at least 90% sitting. So my company is putting me to work in the Office starting tomorrow. This is great as I will not be without income for 4 or 5 weeks like I originally thought. My estimated return to full duty is 7/30 depending on the results of the MRI. So things are getting better and what a difference 24 hours makes. I woke up this morning and my leg felt 100% better. I don't know if it really was or if it was partly a result of good pain killers. Anyway, things are looking up. I have a follow-up appointment with the worker's comp doctor on Wednesday. I guess it is all part of the game. Until later.

THE CLUTZY MOMENT UPDATE I PROMISED

Well here is the update I promised. I got off at 9:30 pm and got to the emergency room at around 10:30 pm. 6.5 hours later I am released with crutches and a brace from my upper thigh down to about my ankle. I broke a bone in my knee joint just below the knee cap. I have to go to my company tomorrow to get with workmans  comp. They want me to have an MRI done to see if there is any damage to the ACL. I am going to cut this short as i can't keep my eyes open. This pain medicine is some good stuff. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Oh yes, I finally got driven home by my company at around 6:15 am. Debbie and I got up at 11am so we could go pick up my car and also get my computer out of it. What a weekend. lol
